Twenty years from now, you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than the ones you did do. So throw off your bowlines, sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover. – Mark Twain
Traveling with kids is nothing like traveling alone. Yes, it means adapting and changing your travel style to meet the needs of little ones. But, it also means you get the amazing opportunity to see the world through a fresh set of eyes – and there are few things more magical.
As a family, we hope to expose our children to as much as of the world as possible, and help them to find their place in it. We hope to raise our children to be global citizens, who fight against the peacock parade and value experiences over things. We want our children to understand that the whole world is open to them, once they have the courage and confidence to venture outside their own backyard. Through their adventures, we hope they learn as much about themselves as the world they inhabit. We can think of no better gift to give our children.
Our little family has been traveling together since 2008. Whenever possible, we escape the 9-5 to seek out adventurous opportunities in the wonderful world around us. We stay in fancy all inclusive resorts and laid back beach houses, sit in the back of rickety jungle jeeps and ride bicycles by the ocean, climb Mayan ruins and bottle feed rescued howler monkeys. We believe that life is meant to be extraordinary, and we seek to make the most of our experiences.
With this blog, we hope to share our family adventures, and inspire others to pack a bag and explore the world with their little ones. We hope to show others that world travel with kids is achievable, fun, and rewarding.
From time to time, Finley and Cooper will also lend their expertise to the site, as they talk about their travel adventures in their “Kid Perspective” posts; their unique perspective provides a clear view of different activities and adventures from a kid’s point of view.
This is our story – we hope to inspire you to begin your own.
